2019 Going Home, Carbonic White-Wine, El Dorado County
It all started when we found this crazy white grape, originally from the southwest of France, called Petit Manseng. This grape has incredibly high natural acidity and tiny berries, and since carbonic maceration lowers acidity we figured it would be the perfect guinea pig for this treatment. We were psyched when we pressed this experiment and realized the incredible tropical fruit purity that the wine had. After spending 5 months in neutral French Oak barrels sur lees, we bottled this masterpiece unfined and unfiltered, preserving every last drop of beauty in the barrel. It smells like a tropical paradise with notes of pineapple, blood orange rind, and toasted nuts. The palate is ripe and juicy with a broad mouthfeel that carries the fruit flavors of guava, lychee and honeydew over to the crisp yet textured finish.
2019 Super Geisha, Pét-Nat Sparkling Wine, El Dorado County
From the moment you pop the crown cap on Super Geisha, you'll be swept away with perfumed floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom, with some hints of spice and fresh herbs. The tiny bubbles give way to juicy tropical fruit on the palate that is refreshing yet delicate, with incredibly well-balanced acidity. The volcanic soils found in El Dorado County provide a chalky Champagne-like texture on the finish. We were inspired by the ultra-vibrancy of this geisha street art and found many similarities with the wine. “Geisha,” most directly translates to the word “artist” in English, which we thought was fitting for a sparkling wine that requires so much craft and care.
2019 The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, Red Wine, Sierra Foothills
Influenced by Beaujolais nouveau-style wines, this is 2019 vintage red wine from the Sierra Foothills spent just three months in barrel and was bottled with minimal filtration to preserve the bright, fresh characteristics. So why is this sooo good? Start with the beautiful color. Next, soak in its big, bursting aromas of raspberry, pomegranate, hints of vanilla, brown sugar, and rich leather. Drink it already!... Yeah, you see what we're talking about now? Bright, fresh, flavors of cherry, strawberry cobbler, rhubarb pie, graham cracker (basically, all the good shit), with hints of tobacco, and iced tea. This elegant wine is light in body, but concentrated in flavor, with a curvaceous mouthfeel and a finish so smooth you'll call it Marvin Gaye.
2018 Thundercloud, Red Wine, California
Syrah/Viognier co-ferment, anyone? You might recognize this killer Côte-Rôtie (Northern Rhône) combo from the über-limited release, Cool Confusion. Keeping it punk rock, part of that wine still lives on in this blend. The Syrah from Shake Ridge Ranch and Snows Crossing Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills is picked earlier to highlight the savory and peppery side of the grape. The volcanic soils from this area also impart a lot of minerality into these wines. The Calistoga portion of the fruit from Frediani Vineyard ripens further and brings out all the dark fruit elements into the final blend.
