Pizza wine is now officially a thing.
In collaboration with our homies from PIZZANISTA!, we proudly present Pizzaboy, the best fucking wine ever created to pair with a big, greasy, cheesy slice of pizza.
Now obviously, wine and pizza have long been a thing, but we continued to find ourselves frustrated that almost nobody was making wine specifically for pizza. And when we say pizza, we're talking about that paper plate, fold in half, drip grease down your chin, guilty pleasure shit. To help us fix this, we couldn't think of a better partner in crime than our friends from PIZZANISTA!.
Founded by legendary skateboarder Salman Agah, PIZZANISTA! is a New York-style pizza joint situated in Downtown Los Angeles with international locations in Tokyo and Seoul. Combining traditional hand-tossed pizza dough made fresh daily using 200-year old sourdough cultures from Naples, hand-milled marinara sauce made from California tomatoes, and innovative toppings, PIZZANISTA! is known as much for their authenticity as their creativity. We mean, shit, aside from their traditional pepperoni and Margherita pies, they also make vegan pizzas and something called "Meat Jesus." It's like we were made for each other.
We couldn't just throw any red wine at these pizzas, we had to craft the perfect one. So one day, our entire crew sat down and painstakingly tasted through blend after blend dialing in the perfect Italian red wine while devouring literal pounds of doughy, cheesy pizza until we fucking nailed it. We're basically heroes. Then right then and there, our Pizzaboy was born. A blend of 48% Nebbiolo from Clements Hill, 48% Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley, and 4% Syrah from Napa Valley. 3 pounds, 2 ounces of Italian-style red wine and we couldn't be prouder.
We had no choice but to go bold in order to counterbalance the acidity and intensity of one of pizza’s main attractions: marinara. On the nose, an avalanche of cherries, black plums, and violets fall out of the glass. On the palate, rendezvous with swingin’ hot strawberry rhubarb, blood orange, and a deluxe combo of raspberry and white pepper. Vibrant, bright acidity leads to lingering black tea and cloves on the finish. Nebbiolo is “terroir-expressive” in that it picks up more of the earth, soil, and climate than other grapes so it tastes completely different depending on where it is planted. Hailing from the Clement Hills AVA, we expect our Nebbiolo to have generous red-fruit aromas and flavor, and here it manifests in the form of tantalizing Twizzlers and Hawaiian punch. Nebbiolo has notoriously grippy tannins that NEED fat, butter, and olive oil. Enter pizza. And damn does this wine hit all the right spots.

This incredible organization takes kids from diverse, often difficult, backgrounds on trips into state and national parks to experience nature and the outdoors...sometimes for the first time!
