2022 Camera Shy, Red Wine, Dry Creek Valley, Grist Vineyard

Get ready to tag your taste buds with a riot of flavors.

Forget Napa's predictable palates, Camera Shy paints a different story. Crack the bottle, and deep plum swirls like ink on asphalt, the aroma a heady cocktail of blackberry paint splatters and sun-warmed currants. Rosemary stings with defiance, cedar crackles like bonfire embers, and black pepper whispers secrets on the edge of your tongue. This wine's a siren song for the renegades, a spray-can symphony of sweet defiance. The finish lingers, plush as moonlight against brick, tannins soft and rounded like the curve's of Ruse's "Bad Beauty" on the label. Warmth seeps slow and steady, like the engine thrum of a midnight escape.

A blend of 70% Syrah, 25% Old-Vine Zinfandel and 5% Valdiguiè, this wine tells you a story with every sip. These grapes are the stuff of legends, known for their ripe, concentrated flavors and bold minerality. Sourced from hot-spot Grist Vineyard, the 68 acres of CCOF organically farmed vines sit high in the sky at 1000' in elevation on Bradford Mountain in Dry Creek. Tended to by third generation grape-growers, their hands stained red from the iron grit in the volcanic Boomer loam soils. Harvested by moonlight in mid-September, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel barrels before maturing in French Oak for 8 months.

To capture the rebellious nature of this red, we looked to graffiti artist Ruse BAD, who's painted us a neon-lit goddess with vibrant eyes that flicker at the defiance of authority. Camera Shy pulses with power, giving a middle finger to expectations and encouraging you to paint your own story. Camera Shy isn't just a wine, it's a canvas for your senses, urging you to embrace your own inner "Bad Beauty," just like Ruse's neon queen on the label.
