Embrace summer with Spacey Jane, a totally far-out, 100% Barbera Rosé Pét-Nat. Inspired by the hip 1960s, this wine is pure, unfiltered fun. We make Spacey Jane the OG way—Méthode Ancestrale. That means we press the grapes and bottle the juice during its very first and only fermentation. No need for that, hung-up Méthode Traditionnelle you find in Champagne, with its second fermentation scene. Nah, we're way too impatient and cool for all that. This Pét-Nat is all about fresh, delicious vibes, right from the get-go.
Our new Spacey Jane is a vibrant, 100% Barbera from the esteemed Kammerer Vineyard in East Lodi. Despite the hot 2024 vintage, the Barbera grapes thrived due to their inherent ability to retain high acidity even in warmth, and thanks to the vineyard's distinctive rocky, silty, and deep soils. These diverse soil characteristics provide excellent drainage and allow the vines to establish extensive root systems, drawing deep for nutrients and moisture, which contributes to the wine's concentration and complexity while maintaining its bright, refreshing acidity.
This is a naturally sparkling rosé made with a deliberate approach. Unlike rosés that are direct-pressed, we gently stomped the grapes and gave them about 8 hours of skin contact to get their beautiful, nuanced color and delicate flavors. The juice then went through a slow fermentation, a patient process that keeps the wine's natural freshness and aromatic complexity, letting the Barbera's lively character fully develop before bottling to finish its effervescence.
This fizzy and refreshing wine is truly delicious. You'll notice aromas of rose petal, stone fruit, and watermelon sour patch kids. As you sip, flavors of white peach, ripe watermelon, fresh mint, and cherry Jolly Rancher emerge, all lifted by delicate bubbles. It's perfectly crisp and satisfying, everything a summer wine should be. This wine is also incredibly versatile with food, pairing beautifully with a watermelon or grilled peach salad, fried chicken or a fried chicken sandwich, and Pad Thai.
As the name Pétillant Naturel suggests, Spacey Jane aims to preserve all the vibrant, natural elements of the Barbera grape. We bottled this wine with active yeast, and it remains undisgorged and unfined/unfiltered. This hands-off approach gives it a rebellious, hazy, and beautifully unique appearance, truly reflecting its natural origins.
