Mother's Broom

A wine built around one idea: exposure.

Mother’s Broom is an elegant red wine that brings together fruit from two very different vineyard sites that are shaped by the same force - moving air.

The Pinot Noir comes from Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, one of the windiest and foggiest grape-growing regions in the U.S. Cold Pacific air and fog rush inland through the gap, constantly cooling the vines, slowing ripening, and preserving brightness and aromatic precision. Read more

Brand Positioning: A wine built around one idea: exposure. Mother’s Broom is an elegant red wine that brings together fruit from two very different vineyard sites that are shaped by the same force - moving air.

Story: To capture this level of exposure, our winemaking team leverages some of the more technical tricks in our bag. Our Pinot Noir is split into two lots: 80% are de-stemmed and 20% remain on their stems. After a 3-day extended maceration, the juice will be left on the skins until the wine is dry, followed by delicate pump-unders to preserve brightness. After that, it's off to French Oak barrels (30% new, the rest neutral) for about 12 months of aging. Our Gamay Noir is de-stemmed, pressed, and aged neutrally. Eventually the two are united during out of our legendary blending sessions.
