When you step into Nonna’s kitchen, you’ll always be greeted by the smells, flavors and comforts of home. Polpette Della Nonna honors those simple family traditions that get passed down through generations, including those life-changing recipes that rarely get written down.
Nonna’s cooked up the perfect red blend for you. For this time-honored recipe, start with 60% Zinfandel, 25% Sangiovese and 15% Montepulciano. The Zinfandel is loaded with bright red fruit and earthy aromas. Italy’s #1 grape, Sangiovese, brings some juicy tart cherry flavors and pairs perfectly with herbs, tomatoes and savory meats. Rounded out by another OG Italian grape, Montepulciano, this masterpiece is strong yet soft. Just like Nonna.
Directions: Carefully destem and crush the above ingredients into a small tank, allow to ferment for 7 days on the skins, when complete, gently press and transfer juice into small oak barrels to rest for 18 months. When nicely softened and showing bright juicy flavors, transfer to bottles and share with close family and friends. Serve with Nonna’s famous meatballs. Buon Appetito!
