2019 Super Geisha, Pét-Nat Sparkling Wine, El Dorado County

Our latest Pét-Nat is here to pop some sunshine into your glass.

We used the "méthode ancestrale" to make this sparkling wine the OG French way, by bottling the juice before the first fermentation completed, allowing the native yeast to create delicate bubbles inside the bottle. Making a Pét-Nat, my friends is no easy task – but after several vintages spent refining this laborious winemaking style, we know we've got another smash hit on our hands.

New to our cellar is Picpoul, a white grape commonly found in the Rhône region of France. One of the thirteen permitted varietals in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Picpoul is primarily used as a blending varietal and is known for its tart characteristics. We couldn't get enough of its mouthwatering acidity and bright citrus notes, so we decided to make it the star of this bubbly blend.

In a supporting role is Tocai Friulano, aka Sauvignon Vert (dibs on that rapper name), which lends some bright acidity to the mix.

From the moment you pop the crown cap on Super Geisha, you'll be swept away with perfumed floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom, with some hints of spice and fresh herbs.  The tiny bubbles give way to juicy tropical fruit on the palate that is refreshing yet delicate, with incredibly well-balanced acidity. The volcanic soils found in El Dorado County provide a chalky Champagne-like texture on the finish.

We were inspired by the ultra-vibrancy of this geisha street art and found many similarities with the wine. “Geisha,” most directly translates to the word “artist” in English, which we thought was fitting for a sparkling wine that requires so much craft and care.

This is a natural sparkling wine with varying degrees of cloudiness, sediment, and remaining lees. This is completely normal. We think it's awesome, but don't say we didn't warn you. Serve this wine well chilled!

Wow, this one surprised us. The unique grape blend was wonderful. Like drinking an exquisite Prosecco. Nose has hints of citrus and ginger, with a lingering floral scent. Mouth feel was great, just right on the bubbles. Flavors, of Citrus, Banana, Pear with a nice minerally after taste. Paired so nicely with a Vindaloo. Though it maybe sinful I think this would make an excellent Spritzer using and Elderflower wine versus and Aperol. Well done Tank, can't wait for the next bottle in this lineage.

Definitely going to be drinking this all summer. The refreshing blend in combination with the bubbles is perfect for a hot day, and a relatively dry finish just keeps me coming back for more. Dangerous!

Super Geisha is refreshingly light with a soda-like, effervescent mouthfeel and smooth, dry finish. She sets the stage for any type of gathering. Dangerously easy to drink and refined, despite the unfiltered appearance. Relax, you’re in good hands, Super Geisha is a professional.

This is my favorite Tank wine ever and the official wine of summer 2020! Have you had to cancel all your summer travel plans? Worry not! Super Geisha will make even a simple day trip feel like a vacation day. Ditch town on a Tuesday and drink it in between dips in the Russian River or take it to Dolores park to make a social distance park hang with friends feel a little less apocalyptic.

Love this Sparkling Wine. So different, so unique, perfectly balanced is what I thought before I read the wine notes... looks like my palate is correct. So glad I bought a couple of bottles. What an excellent blend!

Our favorite wine from our tasting up so we had to get a couple bottles. The natural fermentation provided a very unique flavor profile, like a sour beer but distinctly wine, in the best way. Highly recommend.

It's brutally hot here in AZ, and this wine brings you to a temporary oasis. My wife loves Wasted Love, so we weren't sure if branching out was a good idea, especially with carbonation. Glad we did, very easy to drink and an excellent balance between the tart effervesce and orange citrus notes. We'll be drinking this one all summer. Good work, Tank!

Super Geisha was the second wine that we tasted at the Garage, and although I left with bottles of many names that day, I think about this one the most. In fact, I bought more once I got home and I regret not having purchased even more. It's light, effervescent, with an almost lightly salty flavor on a hot day. The flavor notes in the description accurately describe all the nuances better than I can. It's simply beautiful.

Super Geisha is awesome! This is the wine that got me hooked on Tank. It’s crisp, floral, fruity and complex. It’s fun to have these lesser known varietals make such a badass wine!

I bought one to try it out in October, and then shortly after had to buy 4 more. This is just so delicious. Perfect balance between bubbly crisp and fruity sweetness. I plan to gift several of these next month for Christmas, too. I highly recommend!

This is definitely one of my favorite wines. My husband and friends tried this wine with me and we were so surprised how well the sparkling flavor worked so well with the other flavors of this wine. I went back and ordered more of this because I kept thinking about it. Love this wine!

Spectacular bottle, this pet nat does not have some of the funkiness some others may have, but the taste is clean and dazzling. The acidity really makes it pair wonderfully with fried foods and is ever so slightly sweet. This is truly a great example of Tank at their finest.

Paired with oysters, and oh man was it fantastic! We're not really seafood people, but for this bottle we'll be ordering another round.
